Nirvana Smiley Face

My creative journey began with a deep dive into Nirvana’s iconic smiley face logo. First appearing on a 1991 promotional poster for Nevermind, this deceptively simple design—attributed to Kurt Cobain—became a powerful emblem of defiant angst and playful melancholy.

In my work, I pay homage to its anarchic spirit by transforming the logo into a new narrative. I've used distressing to imbue the artwork with age, connecting its storied past to the present and ensuring the icon’s legacy resonates with new audiences. This licensed graphic, approved by the remaining band members, tells a story, carrying the spirit of a generation into a new era.
